I am a fiction writer inspired by historical figures who challenge social conventions. My debut novel Into the World will be published by Allen & Unwin in December 2017. It traces the extraordinary voyage of Frenchwoman Marie-Louise Girardin who disguises herself as a man and joins a scientific expedition to Tasmania and the South Pacific at a time of social revolution and personal loss. Mystery, adventure and injustice are drivers of my fiction. In my art, I enjoy colour – specialising in pastel paintings – and am drawn to the sense of history in Tasmania’s streets and landscapes. I moved to Hobart from New Zealand in 2010, and now live in Launceston.
